Over the weekend, it occurred to me that my closet and bureau were getting kind of full…again. I have a habit of checking out clearance racks and thrift shops when I’m bored, and sometimes I buy things and forget I have them. Or I buy them without trying them on and they don’t fit, or I buy them and then decide I don’t actually like them.
So Saturday night, I set out to clean. I yanked out everything in my closet that I didn’t remember wearing in the past year or so, along with everything I needed to try on. I pulled out all the jeans, sweaters, etc. that were on the top shelf of the closet. I emptied my two shirt drawers. (I had already taken care of the other drawers.)
(Those aren’t my clothes. It’s a stock image.)
I went through shoes and got rid of any I haven’t worn lately or didn’t plan to wear again because they gave me blisters or were uncomfortable for standing or walking.
When all was said and done, I had one large garbage bag full of shoes, and two full of clothing.
Way too much stuff. Way too much money spent on things I didn’t really need to buy.
Sometimes you just need to clean things out and make room for something new. And better.
