Return and Restore (Ebb & Flow 4)

For packless werewolf mates 130-year-old Malachi Powers and 22-year-old Quinn Boucher, Herman’s Island, Nova Scotia, is a sanctuary, declared their territory by Anax Silas Creighton, the ruler of all Canadian werewolves. No one has the right to approach their home, and Malachi goes to great lengths to protect the young man he calls his “boy.” But on hunt night, a strange wolf arrives to attack Quinn. One who contributed to Quinn’s traumatic past and claims to be from Boundary Pack, the same pack as the wolf who changed Quinn.

Captured and held at the Anax’s home, the intruder is murdered by one of the Anax’s guards. With his dying breath, he delivers a message to Quinn: His Alpha will continue to hunt Quinn until Quinn returns to his home province of Manitoba, and his Alpha is not the one currently leading Boundary Pack. Against Malachi’s and Silas’s wishes, determined to protect himself and his mate, Quinn agrees to make the journey. At least it might give him an opportunity to set things right with the four younger siblings he left behind before he was changed.

At the home of the Manitoba Region Arkhon, leader of all packs in the province, another attack is launched. Another intruder is murdered by a guard. When the Alpha behind it all reveals himself, the horrifying truth will change Quinn forever–or end his life entirely. And even Malachi’s love and support might not be enough to pull Quinn back from the brink.

This book contains intense depictions of flashbacks to sexual assault and other abuse; an extremely large age gap between partners (over 100 years; werewolves live a long time!) in a relationship in which one partner consensually commands the other; and discussions of death and grief. The book is set in the Real Werewolves Don’t Eat Meat universe but is not a direct part of that series.
